A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has only just begun, but a Game of Thrones character has already disclosed Duncan the Tall’s destiny.
We’re only one episode into George R.R. Martin’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, but much has already been established.
‘Hedge Knight‘ Dunk has buried his mentor, taken a dump, assumed the title of Ser Duncan, travelled to Ashford, endeavoured to enrol in a tournament, partied with Lyonel Baratheon, and taken on Egg as his squire.
That’s the start of his television journey, which if successful, will spawn multiple seasons based on Martin’s many ‘Dunk and Egg’ stories. But if you’ve been paying attention to the Game of Thrones shows, you’ll already know where his story is heading. SPOILERS ahead…
Joffrey spoiled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms in Game of Thrones
Dunk is less a heroic knight, and more an aspiring Ser at the start of Seven Kingdoms, but during Game of Thrones Season 4, Joffrey reveals that Ser Duncan the Tall scales great heights.
While leafing through the pages of the ‘Book of Brothers,’ Joffrey stops on his entry, and uses it to undermine Jamie Lannister.
“Ser Duncan the Tall,” he says with a laugh. “Four pages for Ser Duncan! He must have been quite a man.” Joffrey then points out that in comparison, Lannister’s chapter is pretty empty.
It’s a brief scene, but one that reveals much, as the White Book is a history tome that records “all the great deeds of all the great Kingsguard.”
The Kingsuard is an elite order of seven sworn knights tasked with protecting the king or queen of the Seven Kingdoms. Meaning that because he becomes part of that order, great success is in Dunk’s future.
Aerion Targaryen’s fate has also been revealed
There’s another spoiler even earlier in Game of Thrones. During Episode 4 of Season 3, Joffrey reveals the fate of forthcoming Knight of the Seven Kingdoms antagonist Aerion Targaryen.
“Over there in that urn [are] the ashes of Aerion Targaryen,” he explains to Margaery Tyrell. “Aerion Brightflame they called him. He thought drinking wildfire would turn him into a dragon. He was wrong.”
So if he starts drinking during Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, hardcore fans will know what’s coming…
