Genshin Impact is permanently ending support on PS4, and soon, players won’t be able to log onto their accounts on Sony’s old-gen console.

On August 6, HoYoverse confirmed that Genshin Impact will officially end support on PlayStation 4 in April 2026. The decision to sunset the platform is rooted entirely in hardware limitations, and support for the PS4 version will be phased out over three stages.

First, the game will be removed from the PlayStation Store on September 10, 2025. Then, on February 25, 2026, in-game purchases will be disabled. Finally, on April 8, 2026, PS4 users will lose login access entirely, bringing the platform’s support to a close.

Despite the timing, the move is not tied to any particular version or content update. Instead, HoYoverse has explicitly stated that the decision is due to “hardware performance and platform application size,” making continued PS4 support unsustainable as the game grows.

The latest update, Version 5.8, launched on July 30, 2025, and introduced the Sunspray Summer Resort expansion, adding new characters and summer-themed events.

To ensure players don’t lose their progress, HoYoverse is offering a way to transition accounts to other platforms. Starting December 17, 2025, PS4 players will begin receiving in-game prompts to bind their accounts to an email, QR code, or other method via the User Center. This allows continued access on PlayStation 5, PC, iOS, Android, or Xbox Series X|S.

Genshin Impact launched on PS4 in September 2020 and has remained fully supported across all major updates. But with the game’s file size and technical demands increasing each year, the game is finally shutting its doors on PS4 for good.
