Christopher Judge, Kratos’ modern voice actor in the Norse God of War games, confirmed he won’t return for the Greek trilogy remakes, and hinted at a late summer reveal from Santa Monica.
It had already been a packed month for God of War. Sony shadow-dropped God of War: Sons of Sparta during the February 12, 2026 State of Play, a 2D side-scroller that revisited Kratos’ youth alongside Deimos.
At the same time, Santa Monica Studio confirmed full PS5 remakes of the original Greek trilogy. What fans did not know was who would voice Kratos, and when the next Santa Monica game would get announced.
Christopher Judge won’t return for the remakes
That answer arrived via a fan-recorded exchange with YouTuber Fuzhpuzy at Canada’s Fan Expo. When asked directly if he was “playing (Kratos) in the remake,” Judge replied, “No, well it’s gonna be TC because it’s not a reboot but… we’re gonna put on new technology and add more stuff, a new fighting system, so that will be TC’s, the original.”
He’s referring to TC Carson, the original Kratos from the PS2 and PS3 eras, who will reprise the role in the remakes. Judge, who led the Norse saga in God of War (2018) and Ragnarök, will sit this one out.
Judge also teased what comes next: “you’ll be hearing about what we’re doing probably late summer.” He did not say “new God of War,” only that news about “what we’re doing” would surface later this year, which leaves room for interpretation.
Santa Monica Studio has remained quiet since Ragnarök in 2022, apart from confirmed remake work and the canceled live-service project that leaked in late 2025. Insiders have long speculated about a new mainline entry, while others believe Cory Barlog’s team is building something unrelated to Kratos.
