Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has addressed claims about delaying physical copies of GTA 6 to avoid leaks, as well as what the future will hold for GTA Online.

When Grand Theft Auto 6 was delayed until November 19, 2026, many GTA fans had been wary that it would suffer a further delay. The long-awaited title had already been pushed back from its slated holiday 2025 release to May 26, 2026.

On top of that, there have been rumors that the physical version of the game would be delayed even further. The reasoning, according to a reliable Polish insider, PPE, was that Rockstar Games didn’t want any further leaks to drop before everyone had the chance to play the game.

So, when Take-Two confirmed, during their February 3 earnings call, that the game’s marketing will begin soon, it was good news that everyone had been awaiting – including those fearing a delay to the physical release.

GTA 6 physical release delay isn’t planned

In addressing the release date of GTA 6, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick confirmed that there are no plans to delay the physical copies of the game. At least as of right now.

“That’s not the plan,” Zelnick told investors, addressing the reports.

GTA Online will continue as long as fans stay “engaged”

Additionally, Zelnick was also asked about the future of GTA Online and what the release of GTA 6 would mean for the “current iteration” of things.

“I have every reason to believe we’ll continue to support GTA Online. There’s a great community that loves it, that stays engaged, and again, in this quarter, Rockstar has shown that when you deliver great additional content, despite how long GTA Online has been at market, people show up,” he said.

There have been rumors and reports claiming that GTA Online will run alongside whatever multiplayer offering GTA 6 has. So, Zelnick’s words will only add fuel to that fire.

As for the physical release of things, insiders have uncovered trademarks from Rockstar about in-box manuals and maps that should ship with the game.

However, the Take-Two boss did not touch on the price of the game, which has long been rumored to cost at least $100. We will know more about that once the marketing ramps up in the coming months.
