Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier is fearing another GTA 6 delay with Rockstar Games reportedly still working on missions.

When GTA 6 was officially unveiled back in December, 2023, it came with a 2025 release window. Since then, it’s been delayed twice, once to May 26, 2026, and most recently to November 19, 2026.

Despite being 11 months out from the new target, industry insider Jason Schreier is already fearing another slip. According to his intel, having allegedly spoken with developers close to the project, GTA 6 still isn’t content complete – meaning missions are being worked on, and new features may still be added.

As a result, Schreier claimed it’s nearly impossible to gauge whether they’ll hit the November, 2026 date at this stage. “I don’t think anyone at Rockstar could tell you with 100% certainty,” he said on the Button Mash podcast.

GTA 6 still not content complete, according to industry insider

Speaking on the Button Mash podcast on Spotify, Schreier was looking ahead at what’s in store throughout 2026. Obviously, the biggest game of them all, GTA 6, looms overhead. However, he revealed new details from chatter with alleged Rockstar Games staff.

“The last I heard, it was still not content complete,” the veteran reporter said. “People are still finishing things up, finalizing levels, missions, seeing what’s going to make it into the game.

“They are still making stuff and will hopefully be done with that soon and have a whole bunch of time for fixing bugs.”

This goes against what other insiders have claimed, so do take the comments with a grain of salt.

A game of this magnitude, with projections forecasting it as the single biggest entertainment product launch in history, it simply has to be in tip-top condition, as Schreier asserted.

“The stakes are so high. They can’t settle for anything less than perfection. It’s not something they would release in any compromised state.”

As such, with work ongoing, it’s unclear whether Rockstar will be able to hit the planned November release, or slip back to a 2027 date instead.

“I don’t think anyone at Rockstar could tell you with 100% certainty that they will make it out in November,” he said. Of course, this isn’t an official report, so do take the comments with a grain of salt, but they come from the most credible games journalist, who has previously covered GTA 6 with flawless accuracy.

Furthermore, these comments come on the back of recent Rockstar layoffs. Shortly after, remaining devs were ‘fearful’ of another delay.

The last we saw of GTA 6 in an official capacity was on May 6, 2025, when Trailer 2 went out, alongside a number of screenshots and tidbits through web pages. Since then, it’s been radio silence from the acclaimed open-world devs. There’s no quite telling when we might next see the most-anticipated game of the generation.
