Rockstar Games reportedly have leaks about Grand Theft Auto 6 “locked up like Area 51” and is even spreading “misinformation” to staff in a bid to sniff out leakers.

Over the last few years, there have been plenty of claims made about Grand Theft Auto 6. Some of these have proven to be true – including the fact that we’ll be returning to Vice City, and having two protagonists – but plenty of others have been false too.

The most eye-catching leaks, however, have come in the form of gameplay testing footage being dropped, and the first GTA 6 trailer surfacing hours before Rockstar’s own launch.

In a bid to curb those leaks, Rockstar reportedly has everything “locked up” and aren’t talking about GTA 6 at all.

GTA 6 leaks are “locked up like Area 51”

That’s according to Reece ‘Kiwi Talkz’ Reilly, the YouTuber who has managed to interview a number of Rockstar developers over the last few years.

“Rockstar currently is locked up like Area 51, getting intel is almost impossible for me currently. No one is talking at all about GTA 6 lol,” the YouTube reporter posted on X (formerly Twitter).

He also asked if Rockstar has been spreading “misinformation” to try to suss out leakers. “Yes, it is 100% true,” Reilly answered.

As it stands, Rockstar is set to release Grand Theft Auto 6 on November 19, 2026, following a delay from the already delayed release date of May 26, 2026.

Take-Two, Rockstar’s publishers, have confirmed that the marketing for the game is set to ramp up in the summer.

“You know me pretty well, for me to even say we’ve got marketing beats coming this summer, is a huge departure from what I usually say, which is that our labels will make marketing announcements,” Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told The Game Business in early February.
