Formula 1 icon Lewis Hamilton says he is “cancelling” all of his work when Grand Theft Auto 6 drops, as the Ferrari driver can’t wait to hop into it.
Even though Rockstar Games has announced that GTA 6 will be delayed until May 26, 2026, the hype around the long-awaited title has not died down one bit.
Fans are still combing through the second trailer and screenshot dumps to try and uncover more details. They’re already convinced they’ve found easter eggs from the original Vice City, and may have even found a new part of town that has yet to be shown off.
With a concrete release date now in place – and hopefully no further details – Grand Theft Auto fans across the globe have already started booking time off work to get stuck into it. Yet, even celebrities are joining them.
Lewis Hamilton is “dying” for GTA 6 to release
Seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has revealed that he is clearing his calendar when GTA 6 releases.
“I’m a big gamer. I play a lot of Call of Duty, but I enjoy Assassin’s Creed, Gran Turismo,” he told fans ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix in Spa on July 27.
“I’m dying for the new Grand Theft Auto to come out. GTA 6! Yeah, that’s the one I’m waiting for. I’ll have to cancel all my work when that game comes out.”
Luckily for Hamilton, there is a break in the Formula 1 calendar when GTA 6 is slated to release. He’ll have just raced in Montreal, Canada, and be gearing up for the Monaco Grand Prix, but there is a good gap for him to lock in on GTA 6.
Some experts believe that Rockstar will start the pre-order phase of the marketing campaign in December 2025, and that we should get more information then.
Thankfully, for Hamilton, it’ll be the post-season in Formula 1, so he can line the game up like everyone else.
