When a GTA fan asked Rockstar Support for any updates on the possibility of GTA 4 remaster or a current-gen port, they were shocked at the response they got.

While Rockstar is obviously hard at work gearing up for what will inevitably be the biggest entertainment product launch in history with GTA 6, some of the studio’s older games have been left in the rearview mirror.

Even the critically acclaimed and best-selling Red Dead Redemption 2 is yet to be ported to modern consoles now seven years on from its release. But that’s just the most recent example. Fans of GTA 4 have been waiting even longer for any inkling of support.

GTA 4 hit store shelves in 2008 and since then, the game has remained on the hardware it debuted on. There was no enhanced version for the PS4 / Xbox One, let alone a port to make it playable on PS5 / Xbox Series X | S. Despite rumblings that a remaster is in the works, we’re yet to hear anything official.

Now, desperate GTA fans have had some fun asking Rockstar Support agents for their insight. When asked if a GTA 4 port for modern hardware is in the cards, one staff member gave a hilariously candid response.

Rockstar Support staff has hilarious response to GTA 4 request

One GTA fan brought up the idea of a “modern GTA trilogy” when speaking with Rockstar Support staff. That would mean GTA 4, 5, & 6 all playable on the same hardware. As such, they sought to “check on [the] possibility of a port of GTA 4 on the PS5.”

What did they get in response? Well, a Support agent definitely doesn’t have insight on Rockstar’s inner workings, but that didn’t stop them from expressing their hopes.

“Honestly, same,” the anonymous staff member said. Clearly, they’re just as eager to replay the open-world epic on contemporary hardware. For now though, there’s nothing more to be said.
