Haliey Welch, who rose to viral fame in 2024 as the “Hawk Tuah Girl,” appears to have sold her X (formerly Twitter) account. The account is now named ‘Up Only Memes’.
The username and profile image were recently changed, and the account has posted two new tweets on July 9, one about memes, and another which says “What the helly” and includes a screenshot offering to buy an X account for $325,000.
It is unclear whether this post was made by Welch before selling the account or by the current owner. At the time of writing, the account has just under 400,000 followers.
Only four tweets remain now on the page. Two of them were originally posted by Welch on July 27, 2024, and March 28, 2025, but the latest two appear to be by the new owner.
Who is Haliey Welch?
Welch became widely known after a street interview in Nashville went viral in June 2024. In the clip, she used the phrase “hawk tuah,” which quickly became a meme across social media platforms.
Following her viral moment, Welch launched merchandise, started a podcast called Talk Tuah, and appeared at several events, including throwing the first pitch at a New York Mets game. She also signed with Jake Paul’s media company, Betr.
In December 2024, Welch promoted a Solana-based meme cryptocurrency called $HAWK. The token briefly surged to a market cap of over $500 million before crashing by more than 90 percent. Welch later stated in interviews that she had little knowledge of how cryptocurrency worked. She said she did not profit from the coin and was not charged by any authorities, but the coin was subject to a lawsuit.
As of now, Welch has not publicly commented on the account rebrand or whether she sold it.
