Heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne has died aged 76, just weeks after delivering his emotional farewell performance with Black Sabbath at Birmingham’s Villa Park on July 5.

In his final bow, Ozzy, seated on a throne, reunited with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward in a historic set at his hometown stadium—marking the first time the original lineup performed together in over 20 years.

The show closed the “Back to the Beginning” charity concert, raising a staggering £140 million for Parkinson’s, children’s hospitals, and hospices.

According to a statement from the family, Ozzy died “surrounded by love.”

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time,” they said.

He’s survived by his wife Sharon, children Aimee, Kelly and Jack—plus older kids Jessica and Louis—and a global fanbase.

Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2020 and suffering from severe spinal injuries since 2019, Ozzy had announced this would be his final live appearance. At his last show, he told fans: “You’ve no idea how I feel—thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Ozzy leaves a legacy as one of the most influential figures in heavy metal—from breakout hits like “Paranoid” and “Crazy Train” to cult moments like biting off a bat. He also broke through into mainstream culture via the MTV hit The Osbournes.
