Tickets to go and see the Stranger Things Season 5 finale at the cinema are officially going on sale in the US and Canada today, but you’ll have to be quick if you want to secure your seat.
There was much talk about whether the last ever episode of the hit Netflix series would get a theatrical release, with the Duffer brothers and Netflix execs shutting down the idea earlier this year.
However, this idea has been turned Upside Down, as Netflix has since announced that cinema screenings of the final episode will be taking place at the same time as the streaming debut.
Episode 8, ‘The Rightside Up’, will be playing in more than 350 theaters in the US and Canada starting on December 31, 2025 at 5pm PT – which is exactly when it lands on Netflix – and will be running through to January 1, 2026.
How to get cinema tickets for Stranger Things Season 5 finale
Tickets are going on sale on December 2, 2025 – but according to Regal, they won’t be available to purchase until 8am PT / 11am ET.
Right now, it looks like you can buy tickets in the US via Regal Cinemas, but when you “secure” your seat, you’re only able to purchase a concessions voucher – a pre-paid coupon that can be redeemed at a movie theater’s concession stand for food and drinks.
When they do go on sale, your best bet is to buy directly through Regal Cinemas or Megaplex Theatres in the US, while Canadian audiences can book through Cineplex.
You will also be able to purchase through ticketing aggregators such as Fandango and Atom Tickets, all of which already have landing pages for the Stranger Things Season 5 finale.
However, these platforms aren’t fully live yet, so be sure to keep refreshing your page when the release time arrives. Some chains even start their sales later in the day, so there may be a short delay depending on where you’re looking.
The good news is that there will be plenty of seats available for Megaplex and Regal showtimes in certain regions, and they’re offering various options. At certain Megaplex chains, you can watch the finale at 6pm or 9.30pm on December 31, or between 9.45am and 11pm on January 1.
Similarly, Regal is offering 5pm or 8.30pm screenings on New Year’s Eve, as well as a range of times between 8.40am and 11pm on New Year’s Day. So technically, you can still enjoy the Stranger Things Season 5 finale from the comfort of your own home, then go to experience it on the big screen after.
It’s sure to be a true cinematic experience, with the runtime currently listed as two hours and 30 minutes. Good luck!
In the meantime, Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 1 is streaming on Netflix now, with Volume 2 to drop on Christmas Day.
