Battlefield 6 is holding an Open Beta to give players an opportunity to test the eagerly awaited shooter ahead of time, so here’s how to get involved and when it takes place.
After a small misstep with 2042, the first reactions to Battlefield 6 have been overwhelmingly positive. The initial trailers got fans hyped, and the gameplay that emerged from the early playtests had many creators convinced that it could be a real rival for Black Ops 7 to compete with.
Now, following the full multiplayer reveal, details have been revealed about the Open Beta, where you’ll be able to get your first taste of the action.
The Battlefield 6 Open Beta takes place over two weekends, the first of which runs from Saturday, August 9, 2025, until Sunday, August 10. Then, it goes offline for a few days before returning on Thursday, August 14 until Sunday, August 17.
Players will also have an opportunity to access the beta two days early by watching certain streamers, meaning you might be able to jump in on August 7. Additionally, people who already had access to BF Labs will be let in during this early access period as well.
If you’re looking to participate by watching a streamer, you’ll have to get lucky enough to earn a Twitch drop.
How to play
As an Open Beta, all you have to do is download it from your platform’s store when the time comes. You won’t need to sign up anywhere to receive a code, as all players are allowed to try it regardless of whether they’re a long-time Battlefield fan or if this is their first time.
The file will be available to preload on August 4, so make sure to install it ahead of time so you’re ready to go as soon as the servers open.
As for those getting in via Twitch drops, you’ll have the option to get a code on your chosen platform that can be entered in on each respective storefront to gain early access.
Platforms
The Battlefield 6 Open Beta is coming to all platforms that the final game will be released on, meaning:
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X|S
- PC
- Steam
- Epic Games Store
- EA App
Maps & modes
The beta will have Conquest, Breakthrough, Squad Deathmatch, and Domination as the four game modes. The 4 maps being played by streamers attending the event – Siege of Cairo, Liberation Peak, Iberian Offensive, Empire State – is the full selection of what will be playable in the beta.
The release version of BF6 will ship with 9 maps, so beta players will get to try out almost half of the game’s full map roster ahead of launch.
We’re not expecting the battle royale mode, which was reported by various leakers, to be included. It was teased, though, with a storm circle being shown front and center in a BF6 trailer.
