A new documentary on Piper Rockelle and her content creator transition aired this week, and there’s an easy way to watch it for free right now.
Last year, Netflix covered a different side of the case in the three-part docu-series Bad Influence: The Dark Side of Kidfluencing, which placed focus on Piper’s momager Tiffany Smith and allegations of exploitation, manipulation, and sexual abuse.
Despite these allegations, Piper transitioned from child YouTube star to OnlyFans content creator on her 18th birthday and made millions of dollars in the process.
Unlike the Netflix documentary, the latest release sees Piper Rockelle herself giving an interview where she addresses the controversy surrounding her mother and the 2022 lawsuit filed by former members of her YouTube “Squad”.

What is Piper Rockelle: Barely Legal about?
As said, Piper herself appears in the new Impact x Nightline special, where she sits down with Nightline co-anchor Juju Chang to respond to the allegations against her mother, Tiffany Smith, and the decision to move to OnlyFans after turning 18.
As per the official description, “Rockelle made headlines after launching an OnlyFans account shortly after her 18th birthday – allegedly earning more than $1 million in her first hour on the platform and nearly $3 million by the end of her first day.
“Rockelle reflects on her meteoric rise to fame as a kid influencer, the fallout from a 2022 lawsuit filed by former members of her online ‘Squad’ against her mother and longtime manager, Tiffany Smith, and more.
“The episode offers exclusive access to Rockelle’s daily life, behind-the-scenes moments from her OnlyFans content, and interviews with her family, journalists and cultural commentators.
“It also examines broader questions surrounding child influencers, parental control, and the lack of labor protections for minors in digital media.”
For the uninitiated, the Squad was a group of YouTuber children led by Smith who rose to viral fame in the 2010s. In 2022, 11 of the content creators filed a lawsuit against Smith, accusing her of not compensating them for their time working with Piper.
They also alleged that they’d been subjected to “inappropriate, offensive and abusive treatment,” including “wildly offensive and sexually explicit comments.” Smith denied the allegations and the lawsuit was settled in October 2024 for $1.85 million.
Despite the widespread and ongoing controversy surrounding Smith’s management of her daughter, Piper insists in the documentary that she and her mom are closer than ever.
“I think a lot of people think that this whole entire thing would definitely bring us further apart,” she says. “But this whole entire thing has just made me closer to her.”
