HoYoverse has taken legal action against a major Genshin Impact wiki, with the studio now asking a US court to shut down the popular HomDGCat wiki over alleged leaks of unreleased content.
As reported by Aftermath, the lawsuit alleges the site’s operator unlawfully obtained and shared unreleased content from Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, two of its biggest live service titles.
In the legal filings, HoYoverse claims the individual behind the HomDGCat wiki used their position as wiki operator to solicit beta test files from players bound by confidentiality agreements, which they then published ahead of official release.
The complaint alleges the site contains thousands of unreleased assets, including artwork, dialogue, and gameplay details.

HoYoverse argues those actions violate U.S. law and have “negatively impacted public interest and enthusiasm” for official announcements, diminished hype around upcoming updates, and exposed confidential development plans.
The filing lists copyright infringement, trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract, circumvention of technological protection measures, and interference with contractual relations among the claims.
The company says it previously sent multiple DMCA takedowns, emails, and cease-and-desist letters before escalating the dispute to court. At one stage, the operator allegedly agreed to limit updates to live game data, but HoYoverse claims the unauthorized distribution of beta material continued.
HoYoverse is seeking monetary damages as well as a permanent injunction that would force the shutdown of the HomDGCat website and related social media accounts.
As of writing, the site remains online, and there has been no public response from the operator. The case is still ongoing.
