With the Predator franchise very much back in vogue, fans are wondering if there are any new Predator video game plans. Predator: Hunting Grounds (which saw Arnold Schwarzenegger reprise his role as Dutch) launched over five years ago now, and there are no new Predator video games announced as being in the works at the time of this article's publication.

But with the upcoming movie Predator: Badlands set for release next month, the question of a new Predator video game is more pressing than ever. It turns out director Dan Trachtenberg, who also doubles as a sort of Predator showrunner for the franchise, wants a new Predator video game just as much as fans do.

As part of IGN Fall Fan Fest 2025, Trachtenberg told us he would love to see an Uncharted or Assassin’s Creed-style Predator video game set in an open world, and expressed his hope it might one day happen.

“I am desperate for there to be a third-person action adventure, Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, that kind of open world thing,” he said. “Concrete Jungle was something that I missed unfortunately. And that was a long time ago. And there's just so much fun to be had game wise, I think, with Predator. I hope it could happen.”

Concrete Jungle is a 2005 Predator video game developed by the now defunct Eurocom for PlayStation 2 and the original Xbox. You play as a disgraced Predator who must regain his honor by killing the humans who have stolen his technology. It didn’t review well.

Trachtenberg, by the way, is a big gamer. He’s talked about how Shadow of the Colossus inspired Predator: Badlands in the past, and in the same interview with IGN revealed how World of Warcraft inspired the laser sword Dek uses in the film.

But, it turns out, his gaming chops go back even further. He told us that, as a child, he designed a level for a Predator video game and sent it into GamePro magazine as part of a competition. Unfortunately, he didn’t make the cut.

“I used to love GamePro and there was a contest in GamePro to design a level and then you would make it in the magazine,” he said. “And I submitted, I designed a Predator video game level that I'm sure I was just copying Contra. And I did not make it into the magazine.”

At least Trachtenberg got to realize his Predator ambitions in film! Predator: Badlands hits theaters November 7, 2025. While you wait for the movie to come out, check out everything announced during IGN Fall Fan Fest 2025.
