An iconic part of the McDonald’s breakfast menu is finally set to debut in the UK after more than 20 years of waiting.
Even though burgers, fries, and nuggets are staples on the McDonald’s menu, plenty of countries have different takes on the menu as a whole. We’ve seen pizza, beer being offered as a drink, and unique desserts to boot.
When it comes to the breakfast menu, there isn’t too much of a difference. McMuffins are a staple across the globe, and so too are the pancakes and muffins. The biggest difference across the globe is that, outside of the United States, McDonald’s doesn’t really offer it’s McGriddle to many countries.
Australia, Canada, Japan, Guatemala, Mexico, the Philippines, Singapore, and Hong Kong are the only other countries to have it on the menu. However, that looks set to change.
McGriddle finally coming to UK McDonald’s
According to NewFoodSpotterUK on TikTok, who has a solid reputation of leaking new menu items, the United Kingdom will finally get to try the McGriddle from February 3.
It appears as if the UK will get the standard McGriddle, which consists of bacon, a folded scrambled egg, and cheese between two griddle pancakes.
“Absolutely buzzing about the McGriddle!” one delighted fan said. “If they can bring the McGriddle they can bring the bagel back,” another added.
Some have pointed out that the egg is typically just a round egg in the UK for other items, which may prompt another variant of the McGriddle if they don’t change things up.
“Not sure what they plan on doing in our restaurant because we don’t sell the folded egg that goes in a mcgriddle,” one worker commented.
With it being a limited-time item, it remains to be seen as to how long it’ll be around. However, if it is a success, it could make a return in the future.
