When it comes to hot dogs, Costco’s $1.50 beef glizzy is the undisputed king of the food court, but a new competitor has arrived to take the crown.

Hot dogs are nothing new to IKEA’s menu. When you’re not getting lost in the store, customers often make time for the food court to snack on anything from pizza to the chain’s beloved meatballs.

The Swedish retailer has unveiled a half-meter hot dog, stretching nearly 20 inches long, and it instantly makes Costco’s famous $1.50 dog look bite-sized by comparison.

The oversized snack was revealed in a January 30 social media post teasing: “More to love, more to enjoy. Introducing our half-meter hot dog.”

IKEA’s food court just entered the glizzy arms race

The sausage measures half a meter or just under 20 inches, extending well past the bun.

It looks more like something you’d grab at a baseball stadium than inside a furniture warehouse, but the price stays surprisingly reasonable.

The catch? Right now, the giant dog appears to be limited to IKEA locations in the UAE, where it’s listed at $5.17. No word yet on a rollout to the US, UK, or Canada.

Despite the size jump, IKEA hasn’t gone premium with the price. At just over five bucks, it undercuts most theme parks and sports arenas for a novelty item of this scale.

Until it makes its way across the pond, we can only wonder how many of these eating champion Joey Chestnut can down in a single sitting. It’s also unclear if this new dog will be able to overtake Costco’s iconic $1.50 dog.
