Now that iOS 26, macOS 26 Tahoe, and Apple's other big software updates for the year are out in public, Apple's efforts for the next few months will shift to fixing bugs and adding individual new features. The first of those bug fix updates has arrived this week in the form of iOS 26.0.1, macOS 26.0.1, iPadOS 26.0.1, and equivalent updates for most of the devices across Apple's ecosystem.
The release notes for most of the updates focus on device- and platform-specific early adopter problems, particularly for buyers of the new iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone Air.
The iOS 26.0.1 update fixes a bug that could prevent phones from connecting to cellular networks, a bug that could cause app icons to appear blank, and the VoiceOver feature becoming disabled on devices that have it on. Camera, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth bugs with the new iPhones have also been patched. The iPadOS update also fixes a bug that was causing the floating software keyboard to move around.
Apple says that the macOS 26.0.1 update includes non-specific "bug fixes" and also fixes a problem that was keeping some users of this year's high-end M3 Ultra Mac Studio from installing the update. The tvOS update also fixes a problem that could cause audio to desync from video in some apps.
The updates resolve at least one security problem, according to Apple's security page: an issue with the FontParser that could allow "a maliciously crafted font" to crash apps or corrupt memory. If you're holding off on the various 26 updates—maybe you're trying to wait out these kinds of early adopter bugs or maybe you're not sold on Liquid Glass, no judgment here—Apple has also patched the same security flaw in iOS 18.7.1, macOS 15.7.1, and macOS 14.8.1.
Apple is also testing version 26.1 of all of its latest updates, which will continue the work of bug fixing but also introduce new language support for the Live Translation and Apple Intelligence features along with other functional tweaks. If Apple sticks with past precedent, expect to see the final version of this update rolling out within the next month or so.
