Jordan Peele’s production company has been dropping hints about the Blade movie that are sending Marvel fans into a frenzy.

Having started out in sketch comedy, Jordan Peele shifted his talents to horror via hat-trick of hits Get Out, Us, and Nope.

Through his company Monkeypaw Productions, Peele has also shepherded the movies Candyman, Monkey Man, and Him, as well as TV shows like The Twilight Zone and Lovecraft Country.

Peele hasn’t shown any interest in superhero fare thus far, but with the horror adjacent Blade currently trapped in development hell at Marvel, Monkeypaw has been teasing his potential involvement.

Jordan Peele’s production company fuels Blade rumors

While Jordan Peele isn’t currently officially attached – and the Monkeypaw admin could just be having fun with the fans – the fact that the company keeps sharing Blade stories suggests there might be some truth to the rumors.

It all started with an account called Cosmic Marvel posting a rumor from scooper DanielRPK that “Marvel Studios reportedly wants Jordan Peele to direct an MCU film.”

Monkeypaw retweeted those words with the “eyes” emoji, prompting some wild speculation.

It continued to poke the proverbial bear, posting a picture of Peele with fangs from his ‘Sexy Vampires’ skit, beneath the words: “When the internet thinks you’re making a Blade reboot because you said [eyes emoji].”

The production company’s Instagram account then added fuel to the fire by sharing a Complex story with the headline: “Jordan Peele’s company teased upcoming Marvel film,” and twinning that with: “Your honor we are not confirming or denying this.”

What’s the status of the Blade movie?

The Blade movie is still in limbo, with no director onboard, and no release date scheduled.

Mahershala Ali is set to play the superpowered vampire hunter, with Marvel boss Kevin Feige announcing his involvement at Comic-Con way back in 2019.

Since then a whole host of writers have worked on the script, including Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Beau DeMayo, Michael Starrbury, Ni Pizzolatto, Michael Green, and Eric Pearson, with a period setting eventually turning into a contemporary story.

An R-rating was promised by Feige, and Bassam Tariq was initially attached to direct. Then Yann Demange was due to helm, until his departure was announced in June 2024.

In terms of actors, Mia Goth joined the cast in 2023, while Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre came and went. And the film’s release date kept shifting, until it disappeared from Marvel’s release schedule altogether.

As recently as October 2025, Goth told Elle that she’s still attached, and that the delays are because Marvel wants to “do it right.” And if this week’s rumors are to be believed, doing it right might just involve Jordan Peele…
