Is Mr. House dead in Fallout Season 2? The final episode seemed to suggest that fans haven’t seen the last of Justin Theroux’s enigmatic genius in New Vegas, and a fresh theory has many wondering if he’s part of an overarching plan for the series.
The sophomore season of the Prime Video series has mainly been about expanding the world and establishing bigger threats in the Wasteland that Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell), Maximus (Aaron Moten), and the Ghoul (Walton Goggins) will have to deal with in Fallout Season 3 and beyond.
It introduced new factions like Caesar’s Legion, led by Lacerta Legate (Macaulay Culkin), while also providing more context about the New California Republic and how they’ve fared over the years since the events of the 2010 New Vegas game.
But now that the season is over, fans are already theorizing about how Mr. House might play into the future of the Wasteland after his mysterious disappearance at the end of the Season 2 finale. Spoilers ahead…
Is Mr. House dead? Fallout fans think he’ll lead the fight against the Enclave
Fans have been asking is Mr. House dead for quite some time considering players get to choose his fate at the end of Fallout: New Vegas. The show suggests his body might be dead, but the digitized House is still kicking around, and he tells the Ghoul: “It’s good to be alive again. Over the years, my body became something of a target for wandering travelers with something to prove. I have been poisoned, shot, bludgeoned with a crowbar.”
While giving the Ghoul directions to the Management Vault underneath Vegas, the tech genius tells the gunslinger that he wasn’t aware of the Enclave being one step ahead of him, and that they should work together to stop them. Obviously, the Ghoul only cares about finding his family, and leaves House behind.
But when Lucy and Maximus head up to the Lucky 38 Penthouse, Mr. House’s screen now reads “Signal Lost,” before he briefly flickers back onto the screen, implying that Mr. House is still around and not trapped in the Pip-Boy that the Ghoul was wearing. Now, fans on Reddit are wondering how he’ll play into the fight against the Enclave, with some suggesting he’ll lead the charge.
One user wrote: “Maybe a unify the factions mini arc and then march to the Enclave in Colorado? Ghoul can be our POV on how the Enclave is the worst faction/link up with the Super Mutants.”
Given how Mr. House now finds Vegas is ground zero for several factions, including the NCR, Caesar’s Legion, and now the Brotherhood of Steel (through Maximus) it’s not impossible that he would try to use this to his advantage.
Another user added that Mr. House will probably join Lucy and Maximus as they follow the Ghoul on his roadtrip, writing: “I think he is going to third wheel them next season. Lucy is going to have him on her Pip Boy as they go off to fight the Enclave.”
Putting Mr. House on Lucy’s Pip-Boy would be a great way of keeping Justin Theroux around via his voice, while also giving the Vault-Dweller a different type of mentor for the third season. Another fan pointed out that House likely has “hundreds of securitrons to keep the strip safe” in case the Legion’s war with the NCR explodes further — and those robots would certainly be handy against the Enclave.
