Roblox recently came under fire after it announced a major change to its avatar faces, by turning them from 2d to 3d, causing fans to fear losing millions in Robux. Now, there’s a fear that the same will happen to their clothing.
In January 2026, Roblox revealed that it would be fully replacing classic faces to make them more dynamic. Essentially, every Classic Head and Face combination was going to be replaced with a corresponding Dynamic Head, with the previous designs being removed from players’ inventory.
What followed was a major panic among fans who feared losing the millions of Robux they spent on these cosmetics without compensation. Shortly after the uproar, Roblox confirmed that they would be making changes to their initial plan, revealing that “every Classic Face will receive a Dynamic Head counterpart,” and that the rarity and value of the faces won’t change. However, this has caused fans to worry that clothing will get the same treatment.
Is classic clothing being removed?
No, Roblox hasn’t officially shared any information regarding the removal of classic clothing.
It’s worth noting that fans have shared quotes from the 2022 earnings call revealing Roblox’s plans to change clothing in the same way as faces, writing: “Ultimately, all the clothing on our platform will be 3d clothing, and there will still be an opportunity to create cloting, but it will be paining on 3d clothing rather than the long-term using our traditional 2d clothing.”
However, following the backlash from the community around the faces, it stands to reason that the company will either implement the same changed rules for clothing, or is considering a different approach.
Regardless, Roblox hasn’t said anything recently about their plans to remove classic clothing in favor of the new 3d dynamic model, so at the moment, it seems all the focus is on faces.
