IShowSpeed hit out at viral AI videos that lie about what countries he’s visiting next, turning off the ability for fans to use his identity in them.
Back on September 30, OpenAI released its Sora 2 video creator for a select number of creators. Access to the app is, currently, by invitation only, but a number of big content creators have been able to get involved.
The AI-generated videos have, however, caused plenty of controversy. Jake Paul was one of the first creators to hit back at fans using his likeness in viral videos, and the Japanese government also called on OpenAI to “comply with Japanese regulations” over the use of Manga and Anime.
YouTube star IShowSpeed has become the latest target for viral AI videos, with some misleading fans about supposed upcoming streaming tours and his sexuality.
Viral IShowSpeed AI videos concern stream
“I’m turning this s*it off,” Speed said during his October 19 stream after seeing a number of videos of himself on Sora. “This s*it is actually AI, it’s getting turned off, nope, bye bye. No more.”
The streaming star was concerned with the misleading videos looking “too real” with his face and outfits.
“This is getting turned off, officially. No more, no more. Y’all can not do this anymore, y’all are not doing this anymore. Nope, I’m turning it off. I’m sorry, chat, I’m turning it off.”
Some fans echoed Speed’s concerns about his likeness being used in the clips too. “I feel bad for Speed,” one said. “There’s going to be laws against AI,” another added.
Others, though, recognised the differences right away. “It made his voice deeper,” another commented.
The biggest telltale sign about the AI-generated clips, aside from the Sora watermark that bounces around the screen, is how distorted some of his clothes look. The Adidas logo on some of his jerseys magically becomes four stripes instead of the iconic three stripes.
