New Superman, Supergirl, Batman, and Wonder Woman movies are coming down the pipe at DC and Warner Bros., but director James Gunn is being tight-lipped about one specific project, which he says is his “favorite thing.”
James Gunn is keeping a secret. The writer-director – who is also serving as co-head of DC Studios – has Superman hitting screens next month, which kicks off his ‘Gods and Monsters’ slate.
Supergirl is next up in cinemas, while on TV we’re getting Season 2 of Peacemaker, as well as Lanterns. Other movies are also in development, including films that focus on Clayface and Wonder Woman.
But there’s one “thing” that he’s more excited about than anything else, and while Gunn is alluding to the project while doing publicity rounds for Superman, he’s refusing to say exactly what it is.

In a wide-ranging interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gunn looked to the future, but revealed that “My favorite thing has not been announced at all,” before calling it “my script that people don’t know about.”
He then elaborated. Kind-of. “There was one thing that I knew about from the very beginning, that when I pitched to [WB CEO] David Zaslav what the DCU would be, I pitched to him, but we did not announce in that first meeting because I felt like it was too easy to rip off by another company,” Gunn said. “And so that’s one of the main things.”
Which sounds like it might be a movie. Though earlier in the interview, he said, “There’s another TV show that’s my favorite thing in all of this, that is hopefully getting made soon. It’s just my favorite thing.” Meaning there’s an even better chance it’s this TV show.
That’s about all we know about the mystery project at this moment in time, but rest assured updates will be forthcoming as-and-when Gunn reveals more.
