With Superman less than a month away, a Snyderverse fan tried to rally people to spoil the new movie and review-bomb it – but James Gunn isn’t worried.

It has been more than four years since Zack Snyder’s Justice League, his once-mythical cut of the DCEU’s infamous team-up movie.

And yet, despite the franchise’s wide pivot away from the Snyderverse with a rebooted DCU, a new Superman, and James Gunn at the helm, some fans still can’t let go.

There’s extraordinary excitement around Gunn’s Superman. However, there’s still (perhaps performative) hatred from some viewers still bitter about Henry Cavill’s exit and Snyder’s story going unfinished.

James Gunn says the DCU will “survive” Snyderverse fans

For example, one user posted onto the Snyder Cut subreddit asking people to “stand up and fight for Snyderverse on July 11” and branded the new film as an “impostor.”

By “fight”, they meant posting spoilers from Superman, leaving bad reviews across different websites, and reserving tickets without buying them to prevent “Gunnbots” (not a thing) from buying tickets.

“Gunn fired the first shot and killed the Snyderverse, and here is our chance to take the fight back to him.”

On Threads, someone sent a screenshot of the post to Gunn and asked him to be aware of this “disgusting behaviour.” Thankfully, the filmmaker isn’t taking it too seriously.

“Lol I think we’ll survive. I’m not sure the eight people that listen to that guy (I’m going to go out on a limb and guess it’s a guy) are going to impact the course of events,” he wrote.

Lest we forget, Gunn is friends with Snyder. “He’s been incredibly supportive throughout this process,” Gunn wrote earlier on Threads.

Also, the post on the Snyder Cut subreddit was removed and locked by its moderators.

“Our staff never approved that post and does not endorse what it said. This is a public sub, where posts do not have to be pre-approved,” they wrote.

“The mere appearance of a post on our sub does not represent any endorsement by us. Our moderators delete posts after they are made if they violate any of our policies or Reddit’s policies. There was never any question that this post violated our policies, both explicitly and in spirit, and needed to be immediately removed.”
