Nothing beats washing down a spicy sausage with a refreshing soda, but Johnsonville is taking things to another level by making the meat itself taste like Dr Pepper.
There have been tons of wild food collabs so far in 2025 and Dr Pepper has been no exception, recently announcing a team-up with Dippin’ Dots for a soda-flavored ice cream.
While the ice cream concept may be sweet, the soda isn’t afraid to get salty, either, and they’re doing just that by joining forces with Johnsonville.
As revealed by trusted food insider ‘Snackolator’ on Instagram, the two companies are releasing a Dr Pepper-flavored sausage – and it’s coming very soon.
Dr Pepper sausage leaves soda fans shocked
According to Snackolator, the Dr Pepper sausage was unveiled at the NACS show and will feature the iconic Dr Pepper flavor throughout.
The blogger explained that they were told that the sausage would first be released at convenience stores first before making its way to retail shortly after.
As such, it sounds like fans should expect to find it at 7-Eleven, Circle K, or Kum & Go locations.
The reaction from customers was all over the map, with some excited to give it a try, while others treated this creation as hell freezing over.
“We are losing touch as a society,” one remarked.
“I’m from Texas, I absolutely LOVE Dr Pepper, but Dr Pepper barbecue sauce, cotton candy, and jerky are all horrible,” another naysayer chimed in. “I don’t see these being an exception.”
Not everyone was down on the idea, though. Some were highly optimistic.
“Chilies used to have Dr Pepper baby back ribs they were delicious,” another argued.
“I hope it has a kick to it too! If not, have it with a spicy mustard,” a fan exclaimed.
