Former 2NE1 member Park Bom is demanding trillions in damages from her previous record label, YG Entertainment, accusing them of fraud and embezzlement.
Park Bom is a Korean pop singer who was part of world-famous girl group 2NE1 in the 2010s. However, due to a combination of health issues, Bom has since stepped down from future activities with her bandmates.
2NE1 was under YG Entertainment’s umbrella during their heyday, notably re-signing with the label in August 2024 for their highly-anticipated comeback. However, Park Bom as an individual left YG in 2016 and is currently signed to D-Nation.
In October 2025, South Korean news outlets reported that Bom had filed a lawsuit against YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk, accusing him of failing to pay her for her earnings — and the amount she’s asking for is eye-watering.
Park Bom demands more than South Korea’s GDP in fraud suit
Bom revealed the news herself in a now-deleted Instagram post, which she captioned, “To the people of Korea, please investigate what YG Entertainment did to Park Bom exactly as it is.”
She also attached an image of a court filing, which showed a criminal complaint against Yang Hyun Suk for fraud and embezzlement.
“The defendant did not properly pay the profits generated from the complainant’s participation in album sales, performances, broadcasts, advertisements, events, songwriting, and composing activities,” the filing reads.
“The amount in question is estimated to be approximately ₩1002003004006007001000034 ‘64272e trillion, which represents the profits that the complainant should have rightfully received.”
Korean publications have already done the math, finding that 64272e trillion hundred million KRW amounts to approximately $4.5 quadrillion USD.
For reference, South Korea’s GDP — gross domestic product, or the total market value of all the goods and services that a country produces — was $1.713 trillion USD as of 2023.
This means that Park Bom is effectively asking for more money than South Korea’s entire GDP, and it’s got the internet reeling.
Comments have exploded across social media, leaving many users in shock that such a number even exists. Some joked that reporters must have fallen asleep on their keyboards, while others couldn’t fathom that much money being awarded to anyone.
It’s highly likely that this figure is merely hyperbolic and meant to symbolize the egregious amount of money that YG supposedly swindled from Bom during her time with the label.
