Twitch star Kai Cenat is earning praise across the internet for openly documenting his reading journey, even filming himself looking up words he doesn’t know how to pronounce.
Kai Cenat has been mostly silent on social media ever since his record-breaking ‘Mafiathon 3’ streaming marathon came to an end in September 2025.
His ensuing hiatus led to speculation that he was quitting content creation entirely, but the streamer put those rumors to rest on January 13, 2026, revealing that he’s been regularly uploading content to a secret YouTube channel.
During his break, Cenat has been pouring his time into fashion design and self-improvement, recording his progress learning to sew, drawing clothing concepts, and reading for at least 20 minutes every day.
Kai Cenat’s reading journey wins over fans across social media
His reading journey, in particular, has caught the internet’s interest. Cenat says he didn’t like the way he spoke, claiming he noticed that people wouldn’t pay attention to him in conversations, and turned to reading to broaden his vocabulary.
“To be honest, I wanted to articulate myself better,” he said. “I noticed that when I got into arguments and I had to get a point across, people were not taking me seriously at all. I would have anxiety build up and I would stutter my words, and not know what happened.”
Clips from his videos are going viral across Instagram and X, showing Cenat reading aloud and pausing to look up words in the dictionary that he isn’t sure how to pronounce aloud. Specifically, one such clip shows him looking up the word ‘spontaneity.’
The public response to Kai’s transparency around reading has been a positive one, even catching the attention of the Merriam-Webster dictionary, who reposted the streamer’s ‘spontaneity’ clip to their account on X.
“We love this so much,” they wrote. “Keep up the good work, Kai!”
“Kai Cenant showing his progress and setting a goal of reading for 20 minutes a day because he wants to improve something about himself, how he speaks, is so wholesome, inspiring, and sets a great example for those who look up to him,” another user praised.
“I think it’s great that an influential figure like Kai cenat is publicly learning how to read and is acknowledging his literacy skills aren’t great,” another said. “The younger generation would most definitely [follow in] his footsteps.”
