KFC is bringing Canada’s national dish to the United States with a little help from The Bear actor and chef Matty Matheson.

Poutine has long been a staple food among Canadians for its simple, yet brilliant combo of fries, cheese curds, and gravy. The delectable dish has made its way into just about every fast food chain in the country, including McDonald’s, Burger King, Popeyes, and more.

While KFC Canada has poutine as a permanent menu item, KFCs across the USA are now being treated to their own version in the form of Matty’s Cheesy Nuggy Gravy Bowl.

The best part? It only sets customers back $5 and fans are already raving about it.

KFC launches poutine in US locations with $5 bowl lineup

The bowls, which launched on January 5, are headlined by KFC’s poutine-inspired dish, but also include a Mac & Cheese Bowl, Mashed Potato Bowl, and spicy variants.

KFC says the bowls, “perfectly balance comfort and value, including the return of the fan favorite Mac & Cheese Bowl and our take on poutine with a culinary collaboration with chef and cultural icon Matty Matheson and the new Cheesy Nuggy Gravy Bowl.”

The dish comes with fries, brown gravy, crispy chicken nuggets and cheese curds.

“KFC knows value and flavor, and we wanted to bring that energy to lunch,” Matheson said. “Something warm and bold and comforting. It’s the kind of food you crave and can’t stop thinking about.”

Matheson, a Canadian, is also working on something special for his fellow countrymen, with a Canada-exclusive menu item set to launch later on January 19.

So far, critics are going bonkers over the menu item and can’t stop raving about it.

Food blogger snackwithzach praised the dish in an Instagram review, calling the whole combo “fire.”

“I freaking love the KFC nuggets, so when you add in that gravy, all around, really tasty,” he said.

Natalie ‘eatsbynatt’ Ludwig was also blown away, saying that she needed to “experience this again immediately” after trying the dish. “This has gotta be one of the best items I’ve ever had from KFC.”

The colonel is also serving up cheese curds a la carte with a ten-pack selling for just $2.99.

Americans may not have poutine on the regular, but that hasn’t stopped them from enjoying it when they get their hands on it.
