Roblox streamer KreekCraft says TikTok’s AI-powered age check nearly cost him his account after it mistakenly flagged him as being under 13 years old.

TikTok has begun rolling out AI age verification to more users in the US. The system flags accounts it suspects belong to underage users, restricting access until they complete an identity check. In some cases, this involves submitting an ID, a selfie, or a credit card for verification.

The update follows growing regulatory pressure on social media companies to prevent children from accessing certain content and features.

On Sunday, August 10, KreekCraft posted on X, revealing that TikTok made him verify his account after it identified him as someone under the platform’s age requirement.

KreekCraft hits out at AI age verification

“My TikTok account almost got deleted because their AI thought I was under 13 years old,” he said in the post. “I had to verify with an ID + Selfie to save my account. This is the problem with AI age verification. I’m 28 years old btw.”

The TikTok message reads: “Your account is banned because it looks like you do not meet the age requirement to use TikTok. Your account will be deleted on 09/09/2025.”

As one of the top Roblox content creators on YouTube, Kreek has gained 1M followers on TikTok and 13M on the Google-owned video platform.

The ByteDance-owned short-form video app is just the latest to launch an AI age verification system to make sure its users are above the age requirement, which is usually 13 years old.
