According to leaked intel, a new LEGO Star Wars set is on the way to let fans build their own mega-sized Death Star. However, it reportedly comes at a record-breaking cost.
Building LEGO sets certainly isn’t the cheapest hobby in the world, especially if you’re looking at buying earlier packs no longer being manufactured. The prices add up, yet we all can’t help but snap brick after brick into place.
Looking ahead at what’s to come, we already know of a Gameboy set, not to mention a Wallace & Gromit collaboration. But further down the line, it appears another Star Wars set is on the way, though not just any old build.
The Death Star itself is seemingly on the way, as leaked images across social media have revealed. If early intel holds true, not only will it be one of the biggest LEGO sets ever made, but it’ll also be the single most expensive.
Leaked LEGO Death Star set to break records
Leaked images circulated across the internet have revealed a LEGO Death Star set cut in half. It’s not the full thing, as instead, you get half a Death Star as to peer inside and see the inner workings.
You’ve got the Emperor’s Throne Room fit with Luke and Vader minifigs, there’s an Imperial meeting room with Tarkin, and there’s even a trash compactor, which in itself was once a standalone LEGO set.
With all this detail, the pieces and prices add up. The box contains a whopping 9,023 pieces, and reports point to a price tag of $1,000 USD.
If both details are accurate, it would come in as the fifth biggest official LEGO set in history. Below is where it would fall:

- LEGO Icons Eiffel Tower – 10,001 pieces
- LEGO Titanic – 9,090 pieces

Furthermore, if the price is final, it will indeed mark the most expensive LEGO set ever. The previous high, of course, was another Star Wars set, as the Millennium Falcon came in as the single most costly box of LEGO.
At the time of writing, there’s no word on a release date just yet, but given that one has seemingly been pulled off the factory line, production appears to be well underway. It might not be too long until collectors can have this giant build on display.
