Store shelves are a limited resource, as are block-making manufacturing plants. And with LEGO releasing new sets each month, existing sets – even the coolest sets, even some not-so-old sets – have to be retired on a regular basis. To that end, LEGO has updated its page of LEGO sets retiring soon. Some of coolest sets to release in recent years are now on the chopping block. You can check out the full list of retiring LEGO sets here, or read on to see my picks for the best sets to grab before they’re gone for good.
Some of the retiring sets are older, like the Hocus Pocus Sanderson Sister’s Cottage (which is currently on sale for the first time at Amazon). Others, like the Monkey D Luffy BrickHeadz figure from the LEGO One Piece collection, are almost brand-new; that set was just released in the August 2025 batch of new LEGO sets.
The LEGO Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter from the Ultimate Collector Series is one of my favorite sets on the list. We built it when it came out, and it was a big improvement over the previous buildable X-Wing. Another is The Mighty Bowser, which we also built. It’s a big cartoonishly menacing take on King Koopa that looks great on any LEGO Nintendo fan’s shelf. And for Disney fans, you can pick up the classic Disney Castle before it goes away, or Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ Cottage, which we built (and loved) when it was released last year.
In many instances (all of which are noted above), Amazon has the same set on sale for a lower price. However, buying from the LEGO Store may get you two free Gift With Purchase sets you can’t get anywhere else. To get the current GWP deal, you have to spend at least $50 on sets with the following themes: Animal Crossing, Minecraft, Fortnite, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Super Mario. Do that, and you’ll get a free Minecraft set and a free Animal Crossing set at no additional cost.
