Lego’s Kanto badge collection is already being resold for around $200, despite only being officially offered as a free gift with purchases of the collab’s flagship set.

The badge set was available exclusively as a GWP (Gift With Purchase) for buyers of Lego’s $649.99 Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise build, and was not made available for purchase separately.

Despite that, listings for the complete Kanto badge collection have started appearing on sites like eBay, with multiple confirmed sold listings ranging anywhere from $180 to $250.

Free Lego promo instantly targeted by resellers

The Kanto badge collection includes Lego versions of all eight Gym Badges from Pokemon Red & Blue‘s Kanto region, housed inside a display case. Because the collectible was tied to a limited promotion and only available while stock lasted, supply dried up quickly.

For reference, the Kanto Badge build consists of 312 individual pieces, a set size that typically costs anywhere between $35 and $50.

Availability being tied to pre-orders of an expensive set has, unsurprisingly, helped fuel the resale market, with some listings asking for several times what many fans expected a promotional item to be worth.

At the time of writing, Lego has not announced any plans to sell the Kanto badge collection separately, leaving secondary marketplaces as the only option for fans who missed out on the promotion or didn’t want to drop over $600 on a single set.
