Fitness influencer Brian Johnson, better known as ‘Liver King,’ has been arrested in Texas after showing up in Joe Rogan’s hometown and challenging the UFC commentator to a fight.
The 47-year-old was booked into Travis County Jail in Austin on Tuesday night and charged with making a terroristic threat, a misdemeanor under Texas law.
Johnson, who rose to fame promoting an “ancestral lifestyle” that involved consuming raw meat and organs, was taken into custody after posting a series of concerning videos aimed at Rogan.
“Joe Rogan, I’m calling you out. My name’s Liver King,” Johnson said in one of the clips. “Man to man, I’m picking a fight with you. I have no training in Jiu-jitsu; you’re a black belt, you should dismantle me. But I’m picking a fight with you. Your rules, I’ll come to you, whenever you’re ready.”
Liver King arrested after threatening Joe Rogan
In several videos shared to social media, Johnson is seen wearing a burgundy sweatsuit and tactical vest, pacing and ranting about going to prison and fighting Rogan.
Liver King had even requested that in the event he was arrested, a container with the Joe Rogan Experience logo on it go to Mothership, Rogan’s comedy club.
According to the Austin Police Department, “detectives contacted Mr Rogan, who stated he had never had any interaction with Johnson and considered the posts to be threatening.”
The footage also captures Johnson being handcuffed, searched by an officer outside the Four Seasons Hotel and led into an unmarked police vehicle. A member of his team can be heard telling his wife that Johnson may have to spend up to 24 hours behind bars. He is currently being held on a $20,000 bond.
According to Texas law, a terroristic threat can apply if someone makes a statement or gesture that causes another person to feel endangered or incites panic. The charge carries a penalty of up to six months in jail and a $2,000 fine.
While Johnson has never appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan has spoken about him on multiple occasions, especially after it was revealed that Johnson’s muscular physique was enhanced by steroids, despite his claims of being all-natural.
