I noticed whilst working on Meadow that Mayor Kiki only had a couple of fish missing from the encyclopaedia so I decided to dive straight into trying to catch them! I was missing the king salmon, soft-shelled turtle, blowfish, saddled bichir and mitten crab.
I time travelled to September 2024 after I knew none of my villagers were planning on moving out, Meadow had it’s time frozen after I had stopped playing 8+ years ago so it was severely behind time wise. 😛 After a while I finally caught the king salmon, it was so tricky catching this and the normal salmon as Meadow has a very awkwardly placed waterfall so I couldn’t see their shadows or my bopper 90% of the time.
After snagging the king salmon I waited until the later hours of the day, still in September to catch the mitten crab! After a short while I also managed to catch one!
And a few minutes later I saw Chelsea fishing next to a shadow I was directly looking for, I felt super guilty stealing her fish but it turns out it was the fish I needed— a saddled bichir!
The pun for catching the saddled bichir was absolutely hilarious given the situation where I just completely stole Chelsea’s fish. 😀
Next, I decided to go ahead and catch the soft-shelled turtle over in Serenity as it’s currently August; I was scorpion hunting for the museum’s progress over in that town, I had the tarantula caught but scorpions come out in the later summer months. 🙂
It took a pretty long while to eventually come across one, I managed to snag one so fast whilst casually fishing as Eclipse but my luck seems to be not so good when playing as Kiki. 😛
Eventually though, I did manage to fish one in Serenity, once I had caught it I decided to head over to SnowBelle to try my luck for the Blowfish.
It took a very very long time but I finally got one and well..
Yep, that’s right! I’ve officially caught every single type of fish in Animal Crossing: New Leaf on my original 2013 town, Meadow! 🙂 This was such a huge childhood dream of mine that I had finally achieved in a game I still love to this day! I’m so happy!
I immediately donated everything to the museum as soon as I got back to Meadow and now the museum’s aquarium is now officially complete!
As for bug catching my museum was only missing the scarab beetle which I managed to catch pretty quickly on the island after learning that it looks identical to the fruit beetle but golden and where/how to catch it. 🙂
Unfortunately, Kiki’s bug encyclopaedia is not complete after catching this bug that I was missing; some bugs that have been donated to the museum were caught on a different save file so they’re not registered under Kiki’s encyclopaedia so I still need to go out and catch them. One of them being the bagworm which was donated by Candy who was part of Meadow’s horror town dream suite story all the way back in 2013.. xP
Anywho, after donating the scarab beetle to the museum the insect exhibit was finally completed!
Blathers and I share the same reaction to bugs, they’re so gross— I’m not a fan of them at all. Especially moths. xP
This is the first time I’ve ever completed both the bug and fish exhibits so I’m super happy with this accomplishment! 🙂 Now to do it all over again for Serenity and SnowBelle. ❤
