A man has appealed to Rockstar Games to set up a potential GTA 6 playtest for a terminally ill family member who may not live long enough to see the game’s full release.

The request came from Anthony Armstrong, a UI Integrator at Ubisoft Toronto, who posted on LinkedIn asking contacts at Rockstar Games and Rockstar Toronto if there was any chance his family member, described as a huge GTA fan, could experience the game early.

Armstrong explained that the relative had been battling cancer for years and had recently been given a prognosis of 6-12 months to live.

Appeal made to Rockstar for GTA 6 playtest

In the now-deleted LinkedIn post (pictured below), Armstrong said his family member lived close to Rockstar’s Oakville studio and asked whether an exclusive playtest could be arranged so they could experience GTA 6. He acknowledged the need for secrecy around the project and said he would fully understand if an NDA was required.

The post circulated widely outside LinkedIn after screenshots were shared online, with Armstrong later updating the post with a brief message confirming that he had heard back. Armstrong later deleted the post.

“Final Update: We spoke to them today and got great news. That’s all I can really say, but thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”

The “great news,” assuming it’s exactly what Armstrong was hoping for, would mark the second time Rockstar has provided a terminally ill fan of its games an early preview. In 2018, the studio gave a terminally ill fan from the Netherlands the opportunity to play Red Dead Redemption 2 before it was officially released.

Grand Theft Auto 6 releases November 19, 2026.
