A man working at Chuck E. Cheese as the man himself was arrested while wearing his costume, with some very bizarre scenes coming from him getting dragged out of the playplace in cuffs.
Chuck E. Cheese is the mascot that’s kept the business afloat all these years, with the iconic mouse being an everlasting brand presence. It’s at the point where they’re opening a Chuck E. Cheese for adults just so people can re-live their childhood a little.
However, the veil was broken for a moment in one Tallahassee Chuck E. Cheese location where police were seen taking in the mouse himself in, alleging he had committed credit card theft.
Chuck E. Cheese gets taken in by police
News of Chuck E. Cheese’s arrest first came in from social media. People who were there on site noticed the arrest and posted images of it where police could be seen cuffing and escorting the mouse out of the building.
As a result, Tallahassee police released a statement confirming the images were real, but they didn’t give much information about the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
The suspect has since been identified as Jermell J. Jones, a 41 year-old man who’s been arrested for financial crime.
Some people have criticized police for not defusing the situation and allowing him to take the costume off before arresting him in front of children. However, according to reports from the scene, it may have been necessary.
“A VERY trusted source of mine at TPD just let me know that they tried to handle it with discretion in a secluded manner, but ol’ Chuck got buck and started resisting so they had to put on the cuffs,” said journalist Chuck Hobbs on Facebook.
One mom who claimed to be on the scene replied to back this up, saying she had a dispute with the mascot before he even got arrested.
“I had to go off on him one time cause I noticed he was getting angry with kids that kept trying to get on the trampoline he literally was about to grab mine as if I wasn’t right there! I think he got some lose screws or something,” she claimed.
Chuck E. Cheese has yet to comment on the arrest of Chuck E. Cheese.
