A man turned his wedding suit into a European hockey or esports jersey by selling ad space on it to help pay for the big day.

Weddings can be extremely expensive. You need a venue, clothes, food, and most importantly, an open bar. Paying for everything can be no easy task, especially in today’s economy.

As such, it’s not uncommon to see some brides and grooms opt to cut corners in some places, such as getting Dominos to do the catering.

Dagobert Renouf, however, had a different idea. Back in July, the salesman hatched a brilliant scheme: he’d get people to sponsor his wedding and pass it as a business expense under advertising.

The plot was crazy. Crazy good, that is. In just weeks, he had sold most of the ad spots on his suit and was ready to send it to the tailor.

On October 25, Renouf’s wedding went off without a hitch, walking down the aisle dressed in his suit that contained ads from over 20 companies.

“Big thanks to the 26 startups who helped us pay for our wedding, it was a beautiful day,” he captioned photos posted to X of the big day.

When asked about the return on investment, the salesman explained that the ads ended up paying for the suit itself, and he had another $2,000 leftover.

“Sold $10k then $2.5k taxes then $5.5k suit. So basically it paid for the suit + $2k,” he said.

Of course, it’s not surprising that his bride’s dress wasn’t adorned with ads, but given how all eyes are on the bride during weddings, it’s anyone’s guess just how much the couple could have made if they went all the way.

For any potential brides and grooms out there, this may be an idea to keep in mind if you’re strapped for cash and don’t mind becoming a walking billboard when you say, “I do.”
