A TikTok video of a 24-year-old man learning he was named after Kyle from South Park has gone viral, amassing over eight million views.
The clip, posted by his wife Vanessa on October 26, shows her husband, Kyle, stunned after hearing the news from his mother for the first time.
The moment was captured at a family gathering. When Kyle’s mother revealed the inspiration behind his name, he sat frozen with disbelief.
“I just love the name Kyle. I loved Kyle from South Park,” she said, explaining it was the only name she and her husband could agree on. Kyle responded by saying he would need “two more beers” to process the news.
Vanessa’s viral post features onscreen text describing it as “The moment my mother-in-law stuns my husband by telling him he’s named after a South Park character.” Kyle’s mother reassured him she was “100% real,” saying she and his dad watched the animated series all the time during his childhood.
TikTok users react to the South Park twist
The video has over 1 million likes and more than 7000 comments, with viewers joking that Kyle’s reaction mirrored the behavior of his animated namesake. Others pointed out that babies named after South Park characters are now old enough to drink, marking a generational milestone for longtime fans of the show.
Some commenters even joked that “if he’s Kyle, then she must be Kyle’s mom.”
Another user commented: “The name is fitting cause when I searched Kyle from South Park, it was compilations of all his crash outs.”
“The fact that he’s old enough to drink and he’s named after a South Park character makes me feel way too old,” replied a third.
