Marathon has climbed its way into Steam’s top sellers just a week before launch, overtaking rival shooter Arc Raiders.
At the time of writing, Bungie’s new shooter climbed up to third place on Steam’s top sellers list in the United States. It currently sits firmly in third place, with only Resident Evil Requiem and Counter-Strike 2 above it in the top spots.
This list is calculated based on revenue in the past week, meaning that Marathon is the third most profitable game over the last seven days. It’s a 58-place rise from the previous week, and the first time it has appeared in the top 100.
Meanwhile, Arc Raiders, which many fans see as its closest rival given that it’s also an extraction shooter, is in fifth place, behind Warframe and ahead of Mewgenics.
Marathon climbs the Steam chart despite shaky reveal
This comes as Marathon hype continues to grow, with the Server Slam trial beginning on February 26. The free trial will be most players’ first hands-on time with the game, and an opportunity for those on the fence to try it out before the full release on March 5.
Although we don’t have exact figures and this chart only shows how it’s selling on one platform, it seems that the interest is there for now, and many fans are buying the game to ensure they’re there on day one.
But it hasn’t always been smooth, as the long-awaited shooter was initially supposed to drop in September of 2025, but received a mixed reception when it was first revealed, and it was later delayed following a plagiarism controversy.
