McDonald’s is adding a new lineup of cold, flavorful drinks to menus in over 500 locations starting September 2, following the shutdown of its CosMc’s spin-off.

The fast-food chain is testing the drinks in restaurants across Wisconsin, Colorado, and nearby regions as part of a broader beverage strategy.

The lineup includes items like the Toasted Vanilla Frappe, Strawberry Watermelon Refresher, Sprite Lunar Splash, Popping Tropic Refresher, and Creamy Vanilla Cold Brew.

This move comes two months after McDonald’s confirmed it would close all CosMc’s locations and instead bring the most popular drink options to its main restaurants.

McDonald’s leans into drinks to boost Gen Z appeal

“We’re seeing real momentum in beverages, with more people, especially our Gen Z fans, turning to cold, flavorful drinks as a go-to treat,” said Alyssa Buetikofer, McDonald’s chief customer experience and marketing officer.

The drink mixes come as TikTokers around the world try out the viral ‘Dirty Soda’ trend that involves mixing drinks together, like a Fairlife protein shake and Diet Coke.

McDonald’s says the drink test will help refine operations and offerings for a possible nationwide rollout.

“We’re not just adding drinks to the menu, we’re advancing our global beverage platform,” said Charlie Newberger, McDonald’s beverage category lead. “We’ve got the structure, the tools, and the team to move fast and scale what works.”
