Police in Pennsylvania are looking for four suspects after a Ronald McDonald statue was stolen from a McDonald’s restaurant.
It’s a full-blown “McNapping,” according to the police. On July 6, four people were seen on camera at a McDonald’s restaurant fooling around before leaving with a statue of the chain’s iconic clown mascot.
According to the store’s manager, the theft happened when workers were in the kitchen – but luckily, video evidence shows the crime in action.
“He was kidnapped and we’d like to have him back,” the manager told ABC, adding that the statues are rare and aren’t made anymore.
As such, the statue has special importance to all the employees. They’re not the only ones looking to get it back, either. The Nesquehoning Police Department is adamant that the suspects return the beloved statue.
Police warn Ronald McDonald thieves committed a “McFelony”
In a pun-filled post on social media, the cops urged the public to be on the lookout for the statue and posted photos of the four suspects.
“Yesterday, a few unidentified suspects waltzed into McDonald’s and walked out with Ronald McDonald himself. We’re not clowning around. This was a full-blown McNapping,” they said.
“To the suspects: We get it — times are tough, and therapy is expensive. But kidnapping a plastic icon of joy? That’s a McFelony.”
They further instructed anyone who sees the statue at a party, seat of a car, or anywhere in the community to give the authorities a call.
It’s also not out of the realm of possibility that the suspects are looking to sell the statue, given its rarity.
For instance, a similar-looking statue is available on eBay from a seller in Langhorne, Pennsylvania for $2,500.
