British acting legend Sir Michael Caine has signed a deal with AI audio firm ElevenLabs to produce an authorized synthetic version of his voice for commercial and creative use.

ElevenLabs announced the partnership on November 11, confirming Caine’s voice will be available in the ElevenReader app and through the company’s new Iconic Voice Marketplace, a consent-based platform that licenses celebrity voices to brands and creators.

The marketplace launched with a curated roster of famous voices, positioning itself as a performer-first system that requires permission and compensation for any use.

How the deal works and who else is involved

According to ElevenLabs, Caine’s voice can be requested for approved projects via the Iconic Voice Marketplace, while the ElevenReader app will offer narration of books, articles, and PDFs using his model.

Separate announcements at the Summit revealed Matthew McConaughey is both an investor and a customer, using an authorised synthetic version of his voice to release a Spanish-language edition of his Lyrics of Livin’ newsletter.

“For years, I’ve lent my voice to stories that moved people — tales of courage, of wit, of the human spirit. Now, I’m helping others find theirs. With ElevenLabs, we can preserve and share voices — not just mine, but anyone’s,” Caine said in a statement.
