Neve Campbell, Sidney Prescott herself, has the perfect pitch for who should be Ghostface if Scream 8 gets the green light from Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media.
The latest sequel focuses on Sidney as she tries to save her daughter Tatum (Isabel May) from a new Ghostface who has been planning their attack for years.
Scream 7 is bringing Matthew Lillard back to the franchise, and fans will remember that he played Stu Macher, one of the original Ghostface killers in the 1996 movie. However, since this is Scream, it’s clear that his return isn’t going to be straightforward, especially since he seemingly died when Sidney dropped a TV on his head in the original movie. But is there an even bigger suspect waiting in the wings?
Dexerto caught up with Neve Campbell to talk about the 2026 movie when she revealed the perfect Ghostface suspect for Scream 8.
Neve Campbell says Gale Weathers should be a Ghostface suspect
Campbell reacted to comments from horror fans with Dexerto ahead of the new sequel, when she pointed out that people should be suspicious of intrepid reporter Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), who is around every single time that a new killer rears their head.
“She does happen to show up every time… That should be suspect! What’s that about?” she said.
Since the seventh movie is more about Sidney’s family, Gale becoming Ghostface would be the perfect twist for Scream 8. She already has the ideal cover story that she’s a journalist covering the ongoing obsession with Ghostface, which would give her an excuse to start up some killings of her own if her career starts to run dry.
Campbell also touched on Lillard’s return to the franchise in the sequel, saying that if Stu does come back from the dead, Sidney’s “gonna be pissed” that the TV didn’t actually put a stop to the killer.
