New independent game Blippo+ lets you flick through channels on another planet’s television network. It’s effectively Interdimensional Cable from Rick & Morty made real.
Between nihilistic adventures across the multiverse, Rick and Morty sit on the couch like the rest of us every once in a while. When they do, it’s not just regular old TV they’re watching, but instead, some Interdimensional Cable.
The idea is simple. Press a button to change the channel and find something completely unexpected from a random corner of a random galaxy. In theory, it’s endless entertainment. You never know what wild TV show might pop up next.
It’s that idea that carries over into our world thanks to the creators of Blippo+. While it originally launched as a PlayDate exclusive, the TV surfing experience is now coming to PC and Nintendo Switch, and there’s good reason to be excited.
Blippo+ is a real version of Interdimensional Cable
“Channel surf the stars,” the game’s description reads on Steam. The loop couldn’t be simpler. Sit back, relax, and enjoy all sorts of weirdness on TV channels from an alien planet.
“Soaps, sitcoms, news, weather, and talk shows” all feature in the rotation, so you’ll be kept on your toes as you flick about. One moment you’re watching a music video, the next a comedy, all of it bizarre and a little surreal.
The original version of the game, exclusive to the PlayDate, ran on an 11-week loop. So, much like real cable TV, you could plan your days around what would be on Blippo.
There is a bit more of a game under the surface here though. Different from Intermensional Cable that’s purely nonsensical, Planet Blip has a story to tell you. As you sift through the channels and fill out the TV guide, you’re slowly but surely piecing together the lore of the alien world.
Blippo+ is set to launch across PC and Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 on September 24, 2025.
