28 Years Later sequel The Bone Temple is about to hit screens, and a new picture of Ralph Fiennes in the movie has inspired multiple Harry Potter comparisons.
28 Years Later was one of the best movies of 2025, and sequel The Bone Temple is the first major theatrical release in 2026.
Written by Alex Garland and directed by Nia DaCosta, the forthcoming follow-up appears to revolve around Spike’s time with a dubious gang called The Jimmys.
The official synopsis also states that Ralph Fiennes’ character, Dr. Ian Kelson, “finds himself in a shocking new relationship – with consequences that could change the world as they know it.” While a new look at Kelson has had everyone making the same joke…
Ralph Fiennes looks like Voldemort in new 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple
The above image from 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple dropped on ScreenRant, and is described as depicting Dr. Kelson performing a ritual.
With pale skin, dark rings around his eyes, and something black marking his chest, Kelson doesn’t look well. But he also bears something of a resemblance to a previous character that Ralph Fiennes played, with fans comparing the doctor’s look to his villain in the Harry Potter movies.
“He’s evolving back into Voldemort,” writes one, while another claims “he looks more Voldemort now than when he actually played Voldemort.”
The lack of hair has gained attention, with one commentator tweeting: “Lol dude love being bald, from Harry Potter, Coriolanus, now 28 Years Later…” and another quipping: “bro really said ‘I miss having no nose’ and signed the contract immediately. He was born to play terrifying bald villains.”
While another fan reckons that Bone Temple Fiennes looks even scarier than Harry Potter Fiennes, writing: “Voldemort, what would he have been like if the Harry Potter films hadn’t had a children’s rating.”
We don’t yet know precisely how Dr. Kelson plays into The Bone Temple plot, but that aforementioned “shocking new relationship” could be with the Alpha he calls Samson, which has sparked a terrifying fan theory that Kelson’s experiments on that specific Infected will be used to weaponize the zombies at large, sparking a global outbreak in 28 Years Later 3.
