YouTube is expanding its creator tools with the rollout of A/B testing for video titles, giving users the ability to test multiple title options and compare performance before settling on the best-performing version.

The new feature builds on YouTube’s earlier “Test & Compare” tool for thumbnails, which allows creators to upload up to three thumbnail variants and let YouTube automatically determine which version drives the most engagement. With title A/B testing, creators can now fine-tune not just their visuals, but their copy as well.

The title testing tool lets creators upload multiple variations of a video’s title. YouTube will then rotate the options across viewers and use watch time and click-through rate data to determine which title performs best. The winning title will be automatically applied after the testing window closes.

Title testing rolls out to select creators

Title A/B testing is rolling out in phases, starting with a small percentage of creators at first. YouTube says a broader rollout is expected later this year.

“We’re rolling this out to a small percentage of creators at first, but we’ll keep you posted on our plans to expand it to more creators,” it said in a post on its support page.
