The live-action version of Masters of the Universe has now wrapped filming, and star Nicholas Galitzine has revealed an eye-watering secret about his superhero diet.
While he hasn’t been as prominent as a main Marvel or DC superhero, He-Man has been around and kicking since the 1980s. Our blonde-haired beauty hails from the Masters of the Universe… ahem, universe, taking various forms from the OG comics to now fairly dated-looking animation.
In 2026, however, he’s getting a brand-new look. Masters of the Universe is getting the live-action treatment (again, after 1987), with The Idea of You star Nicholas Galitzine taking on the glamorous brute. He’s joined by Camila Mendes as Teela, Jared Leto as Skeletor, and Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, to name a few.
Details are classic yet few and far between, but with the new movie officially wrapped, Galitzine has shared his strategy for bulking up – and boy, is it wild.
Nicholas Galitzine ate 4000 calories a day for He-Man transformation
Speaking to W Magazine, Galitzine explained he ate 4000 calories a day for his transformation into He-Man, which is twice the recommended amount for the average adult – remember, we should be hitting about 2000 calories on a normal day.
“There’s been a lot of eating and weightlifting, a lot of stunts,” he said. “I’m eating about 4,000 calories a day, but the amount of physical work I’m doing, you end up hungry at the end of the day, which is quite surprising.
“This is the fun part. I will eventually go into what’s called the cutting phase, where I’m going to be starved and so rude to everyone. I can only apologize for the person I’m going to become in a few months’ time.”
The movie is set to be released in June 2026, but we’ve already had a sneak preview of what Galitzine’s version of He-Man will look like on Instagram. As of June 15, 2025, the film has wrapped shooting.
“Well, that’s a wrap on Masters of the Universe,” he wrote in a caption. “It has been an honour shouldering the responsibility of playing Adam and He-Man. It’s been the role of a lifetime and I put everything into it. There’s not much I can show you, but I am so proud of the movie we’ve made. Thanks to our amazing cast and crew for all your hard work.”
As you can see, his costume looks exactly like the one we saw in the 1983 animation, so expect a pretty classic take on what we already know. Here’s what we expect to happen – Castle Grayskull is the target of numerous attacks by Skeletor, Hordak, and the Snake Men.
They all believe the secrets inside will allow them to conquer Eternia and the entire universe, thus becoming the Masters of the Universe.
