Footage has been shared showing the moment Nick Reiner was arrested following the deaths of his parents, director Rob Reiner and producer Michele Singer Reiner

On Sunday (December 14), the LAPD found the couple dead in their Brentwood home. Their 32-year-old son Nick was arrested soon after, with the LA District Attorney’s Office later announcing that he had been charged with two counts of murder.

The LA County Medical Examiner has determined that the cause of death was “multiple sharp force injuries,” and that the manner of death was “homicide.”

Nick, who made the semi-biographical 2015 movie Being Charlie with his father Rob Reiner, appeared in court this week but did not enter a plea deal. He will be held without bail until the scheduled arraignment on January 7, 2026.

NBC4 Los Angeles has since released surveillance footage showing Nick’s final moments before his arrest at Exposition Park.

The footage was captured by cameras from a gas station across the street at approximately 9pm on Sunday, showing Nick entering the shop, buying a sports drink, and leaving.

Alexis Hernandez, an employee who was working in the store that night, told the outlet, “I just thought he was a regular customer.”

As Nick crosses the street, multiple law enforcement vehicles show up. Nick immediately puts his hands up and is taken into police custody.

If convicted, he could face life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty. Prosecutors have stated that a decision has not yet been made on whether they will seek capital punishment.

The other Reiner children include son Jake, 34, daughter Romy, 27, and Tracy, 61, who Rob adopted during a previous marriage to director Penny Marshall.

They haven’t commented on Nick’s arrest, but have separately expressed their heartbreak over the death of their parents.

Jake and Romy said in a joint statement: “Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day.

“The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents, they were our best friends.”
