The new ‘Nike Mind’ shoes are going viral after the sportswear company claimed they were designed to help athletes focus by stimulating brain activity.
Nike is one of the most famous athletics brands in the entire world, known for collaborating with high-profile athletes to produce everything from shoes, shirts, leggings and more.
Over the years, it has innovated a slew of new sneaker designs to help amplify athletes’ abilities from the court to the racetrack… but its latest product is focused on strengthening the mind.
Nike’s new sneakers activate the brain to improve focus
Nike debuted the ‘Nike Mind’ 001 and 002′ on October 23, 2025. These sneakers look a bit different compared to other shoes from the brand, as they feature a series of small spheres that are embedded in the soles.
These little spheres are supposed to target pressure points in your feet, stimulating your brain and strengthening the body’s mind-muscle connection. Experts at Nike say the shoe was designed to help athletes stay locked in and focused on the competition.
“By studying perception, attention, and sensory feedback, we’re tapping into the brain-body connection in new ways. It’s not just about running faster. It’s about feeling more present, focused, and resilient. That’s the next frontier of performance,” Nike’s Chief Science Officer, Dr. Matthew Nurse, explained.
The scientists who developed Nike’s new kicks used a variety of tools to test their effectiveness on athletes, from underfoot plantar pressure sensors, electrical myography of the legs, and even EEGs.
For Nike, this shoe represents a bright future for the brand as it continues to pursue new and creative ways to help athletes succeed.
“Nike Mind is a new sensory-footwear concept that helps reawaken the foot, the body and the mind,” Eric Avar, Nike’s VP Creative Director of Innovation, explained. “It represents a new paradigm of performance and how we can potentially make athletes better in the future.”
These shoes won’t be available until January 2026. The Mind 001s are priced at $95, while the Mind 002s are listed at $145.
The Nike Mind 001 is a slip-on slide, coming in red and gray colorways. The Nike Mind 002 is more of a traditional sneaker, but is only available in gray. Both the 001 and 002 come in men’s and women’s sizes.
