Nintendo’s new pricing for the original Switch family of consoles officially went live today, August 3, 2025, raising the cost of legacy hardware and accessories across the United States.
The standard Nintendo Switch now costs $339.99, the Switch OLED jumped to $399.99, and the Switch Lite climbed to $229.99. Likewise, select accessories, including the Joy-Con 2 and Sound Clock Alarmo, have also received price adjustments.
This marks the first instance of Nintendo increasing prices for the original Switch line-up since the system’s 2017 debut.
In a statement, Nintendo said the move reflected changing “market conditions,” but didn’t mention the implementation of tariffs by the Trump administration as the specific cause.
The updated pricing brings the original Switch and its OLED model within spitting distance of the $449.99 Nintendo Switch 2, a new-gen console with significantly more powerful hardware.
The full price changes
The updated prices for all affected products are as follows:
- Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo: $44.99
- Nintendo Switch: $339.99
- Nintendo Switch – OLED Model: $399.99
- Nintendo Switch Lite: $229.99
- Joy-Con 2 (L/R): $84.99
As of writing, it’s still possible to pick up the original Switch and OLED models at their previous prices at U.S. retailers such as Target, although for how long remains to be seen.
The chain updated its stock prices to be in line with Nintendo’s figures on August 2, but ultimately reverted them, likely due to the changes taking place too early, although this isn’t confirmed.
